About

I’m a technical writer and researcher. I study and write about the infrastructure and systems that power the modern economy and underpin 21st century life. I’m also interested in speculative bets on new and emerging technologies, driven by the belief that technology is one of the most reliable tools for solving the hardest problems facing the world today.

My goal with writing is to learn and communicate (secondary motivations include creating shareholder value and delivering outcomes for stakeholders). Whether working for clients or writing for myself, I always strive to leave myself and the reader more knowledgeable and better informed at the end. Writing has given me the opportunity to fuel my curiosity and embark on a lifelong journey of learning, and I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to do something I love for a living.

My technical writing and research experience includes working with organizations you may have heard of (ConsenSys, Subzero Labs, Lagrange), open-source education projects (Ethereum.org), and peer-reviewed publications (IEEE). You can find a representative sample of my work here.

I’m open to contributing pieces to tech publications and outlets. I’m especially interested in helping drive and shape the conversation around technology as the pace of innovation accelerates and its impact on the world deepens. I also work with technical marketing teams at startups and companies building things worth writing about. If you’re looking for a tech writer who isn’t afraid of technical depth—someone with broad domain knowledge and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, polished prose—get in touch.

I recently started a blog where I intend to publish essays and long-form writing on topics and ideas across technology, finance, industry, and other areas that spark my curiosity. For more of what I’m working on currently, see the /now page.

Miscellanea (random facts about me) +
  • My friends call me Manny (short for Emmanuel). Around the internet, you may find me as Manny the Martian. I may or may not be an alien sent to Earth from Mars.
  • I studied Communications in college, which did little to nothing to prepare me for writing about software and technology. Before focusing on technical writing, I explored different comms-adjacent fields, including journalism, PR, copywriting, and content marketing.
  • I’ve been an avid reader since I was a kid (it’s not that surprising I ended up a writer). It’s hard to read when you’re an adult with responsibilities, but I try. You can find my favorite books and current reads here.
  • Outside of tech, I spend a lot of time thinking about history, philosophy, and politics. History and philosophy are guilty pleasures. Politics is a bad habit.
  • I run long distances. My longest is an 8-mile run around Central Park. I may never become an elite long-distance runner, but I’ll never stop running. No other activity provides the same level of mental clarity, personal fulfillment, and physical challenge.
  • I’m currently based in Beltsville, Maryland. Before that, I lived in Manhattan, New York. And before that, I called Decatur, Georgia home.
  • I do not have a Wikipedia page (yet).
